Description

Join us on the adventure of a lifetime into the real wilderness, where travel without a four wheel drive vehicle is impossible.

Travelling through this untamed and rugged land in its original state, unspoilt by man, will leave you with unforgettable memories and a yearning to return.

Rick & Ann Jane are the owner/operators of Bushtrack Safaris and have a strong affinity with the area. Ann is the daughter of an old Kimberley Pioneer, the late Mr Frank Lacy, who with his wife Teresa took up the lease of Mt Elizabeth Station in 1945.

Scheduled Safaris operate in the cooler months of the Kimberley Dry Season, May through to September. The days are warm, with beautiful clear and cool evenings. Flies, mosquitoes and flying insects are not a problem in these months. By negotiation, and dependant on the weather, some tours can be held in April and October.

Bushtrack Safaris follow the main track to Munja. This track was first created by Anns brothers, Frank and Peter Lacy. This unique Wilderness area is rich in Ancient and historic rock-art.

Spectacular gorges, unusual rock formations (honeycomb caves, mushroom rock) prolific bird life, and beautiful swimming holes become familiar sights amid the striking beauty of this untamed land.

Bushtrack Safaris has a base camp at Bachsten Falls (which is on the way to Munja). This is a popular location for specialised groups and offers birdwatching, photography, swimming, scenery and general relaxation. Munja, on the northern bank of the Walcott Inlet, used to be a government run Aboriginal feeding station during the early 1930s prior to it finally being transferred to Derby. There is now Log-Cabin fully furnished accommodation. Cabins are inclusive of tea & coffee making facilities. Bookings Esential.
